Dear Friends,
Well it has been quite some time since we have sent a newsletter and I apologize as we need to get the important news out to you.
So the first bit of news, which you might have guessed by the look of this newsletter, Sara is not at the Health Center anymore and is therefore not doing the volunteer organizing. So both of those jobs are part of our reorganizing efforts for the whole organization. Lin Schaye has taken on the volunteer organizing. Thank you Lin. So you might get a call from her as we would like to keep tabs on the hours in the computer and keep everyone in the loop about jobs that need to be done.
Here is a note from Lin:
CSAM needs the Talents of its Volunteers!
Specifically, we need your help at our upcoming 10th anniversary Health Center Open House, Sunday, Sept 22, 2013. And in the long term, we need your talents and energy to survive as the cutting edge economic model we are.
We are currently updating our volunteer system. Expect a phone call soon. Questions or comments welcome.
Thanks,
Lin Schaye
We will need folks to greet visitors, tend to the refreshments, literature and general info for anyone coming to the tours or demonstrations. We are waiting to hear back about music. It is from 2-5 but we need folks before and after for various tasks so many different time slots are available.
Our Fasting Weekend is coming up Oct 18-20 so spread the word. The fee is reduced for PO members at $100, for others it is $150 and if someone is coming from afar or would like to stay overnight it is $250 with two nights at the Health Center.
It is a great experience if you have never tried fasting before or if you like to be supported by the group for a wonderful weekend of art, music and nature.
Call the Health Center at 663-4365.
I am starting a blog called "Dr. Molly says" with info about food producers, etc. Look for that once I get all the details worked out. I hope everyone will read and contribute to it.
Our next Retreat is November 11-23. We need a couple of aides for the evening shifts if you know anyone who might be interested in some great work with the patients during the Retreat and helping in between with preparations and projects.
Remember that we have scrip sales in the office. Linda Britt is in charge and she can order any scrip that you want. Benefits the Health Center Patient Fund. We always have some at the office for the common places around town. For Arbor Farms you just say CSAM at the checkout and 3% goes to the Fund. Thank you for giving your support.
We are preparing a "new look" for our image online, in person and in print. Anyone with expertise in these areas would be greatly needed at this time. We are using the term Community Supported Medicine for general use to make it more accessible for the general public. We are also answering the phones with 'Steiner Health'. Any ideas from all of you would be greatly appreciated. We feel that our system is a great one and we need to get it out there as Obamacare rolls out with the restrictions that will become more apparent as it proceeds.
I wrote a small article for the Crazy Wisdom journal which I would like to expand so send me your ideas about that as well.
In this time when Health Care is so expensive we continue to keep our costs down and our community of patients well cared for. We need to share our model with many more people.
Wonderful site. Lots of useful information here.
I’m sending it to several buddies ans also sharing in delicious.
And of course, thank you to your sweat!
