Patient Organization Newsletter Winter 2013/2014

Posted on Wednesday, January 1st 2014

Dear Patient Organization Members,

I would like to remind you first of all about our Annual PO Birthday Party and Talent Show on Saturday, January 11th at 5:30 until 9 or so, at the Health Center, 1422 West Liberty St.  We will have a nice vegetarian meal cooked by Dr. Molly and Pam Gillespie and anyone else who might enjoy spending some time in the kitchen preparing a meal.  Then we have dessert and King Cake.  Someone will be the lucky one to find the baby in the cake and thereby become the presiding King or Queen for the evening including a Golden Crown.  After some more dessert to celebrate the coronation, we will begin the famous CSAM Talent Show.  Presiding over the Talent Show will be U of M ComCo actor, Samuel McMullen.

Please let us know that you are coming and how many!  We do a lot to prepare and it is very helpful to us to know how many are coming.  You can rsvp by email or by phone to the office 222-1491 or Health Center 663-4365.  We look forward to seeing everyone and would like to extend a special invitation to new members.  This is our big social gathering for the year and we are celebrating 16 years of the Patient Organization.

Winter

Thank you all who helped with the questionnaires needed for Dr. Molly’s recertification in Internal Medicine.  It is a process that takes place every 10 years or so and involved some patient participation as well this time.  We are glad that it is over.  Dr. Molly and Dr. Quentin are both Board certified in Internal Medicine and anthroposophic medicine.

We have hired a new front office person named Nora Litvek.  She is from the area but went to school in Washington State and she likes animals and lives on a farm with her grandparents near Dexter.  Nora is very happy to be part of a community effort and will enjoy meeting all of you as you come in to the office.  She had some training with Amy over the holidays and will be full time after the New Year.

We have also hired Mara Gibson, who has been a CSAM Board Director for several years,  as our Development Director.  Mara will be working at the Health Center part-time and you may see her name on mailings or she might be calling to ask your help with promotional materials or events.  She will continue to be a great help to the organization.

We are working to bring our volunteer roster into a form that makes it easier to contact all of you and we are hoping to call you and utilize your special skills to benefit the organization and to assist in the functions of the organization.  We started this in the Fall and will be updating / revising the volunteer commitment form that comes with the renewal of your membership.  Please use the “other” category freely to tell us your special talents!  We would also like to keep you informed about your volunteer hours status.  Feel free to email if you have questions about this or would like to know more about how to contribute your time and skills.

We want to wish everyone a healthy and prosperous 2014!

Dr. Molly and Dr. Quentin
